Rather than the usual mahogany neck, optioned with a solid Indian rosewood neck. It has a natural, breathable feel, and it plays totally unlike mahogany or maple.
The fret-board is tonally coveted "Brazilian" Rosewood, which might be the best tone-wood on the planet and is getting harder and harder to find on new and used guitars.
The finish is "Purple Charcoal Burst".
Hardware is hybrid.
The PRS 408 is one of the best sounding guitars on the market in terms of pickups or switching options. The bridge pickup is a bit wider than your average humbucker, and the neck pickup is a bit slimmer. This provides a broader tonal spectrum with clean highs, articulate mids and well defined lows. The two mini toggles are intact as well. Switch either pickup to single coil mode, and you'll hear the sound of a real single coil pickup, not a humbucker trying to sound like a single coil.
